The Pedigree Registry. This is the national register of all the alpacas in the country, the herd location and ownership. It is envisaged that breeders will be able to use this resource to check bloodlines, breeding records and make informed mating decisions based on sound information and established pedigree.

The Breeders Directory. An up to date directory of all the alpaca breeders in the country with a brief precis of their location and services.

"The Alpaca" The society's quarterly magazine which is a professionally produced magazine free to all members of the BAS.

National and Regional Show Classes: The society organises alpaca shows throughout the UK. the first one of which was held in 99 providing classes in all categories and a fine opportunity for breeders large and small to show their animals.

Judge training, Fleece workshops and husbandry courses. The society organises various educational workshops throughout the UK to increase the skills and knowledge of the membership.

Import Screening Procedures, in place to ensure that all new animals entering the UK achieve a minimum standard which makes them eligible for the national register and to protect buyers from purchasing inferior stock.

Regional support structure. The society has established through the membership regional self helps groups throughout the UK which meet on a regular basis to share knowledge and expertise in all things alpaca.

Welfare support structure for the protection of the Alpaca. The Society works with numerous animal welfare bodies to operate a fast response service for any alpacas which are suffering neglect.

Promotion: The society provides a focus for promotion of Alpaca to the general public through media and marketing and organizing and promoting various exhibitions at regional and national agricultural shows to raise the profile of this wondrous animal.
