BAS judges to judge the Alpaca 2012 Fleece Show

It looks like we will have a busy April this year as the plans for the Alpaca 2012 World Conference fleece show have been announced. The idea of the commitee is that all the British Alpaca Society qualified judges will participate in either the Alapca 2012 World Fleece show or the Alpaca 2012 UK Spring Halter show. The idea being to showcase the British Judges and the BAS judge training scheme.

As Toft Alpacas had already committed ot taking alpacas to the Alpaca 2012 Spring Show I declined to get involved in the halter classes so I was chosen along with three others to judge the Alpaca 2012 Fleece show.

I can't wait, the chance to get to judge the best of the best accross the world comes very rarely and April can't come soon enough as far as I'm concerned.

All I pray for now is a vast amount of entries. It will be fantastic if all the countries of the world respond with entering their very best fleeces. I will be sorely dissapoited if our fellow European Alpaca Breeders cannot rustle up a shed load of entries.

It's up to UK Alpaca Breeders to show the way.  For UK Alpaca breeders alone this is a fantastic opportunity to put their best against the best in the world. Having been about a bit  I can reassure all the UK breeders that they are in with a good chance of grabbing a rosette. I have judged quite a number of fleece shows in my time and the standard of alpacas and fleeces in the UK has been  progressing at a rate of knots over the past five years and I firmly beleive that if we get them entered we will compete strongly in all classes.

It doesn't do to believe all the sales hype on the internet from abroad. For a number of years now leading judges from abroad have been saying that we are up there with the rest of the world, our own BAS judges have been saying that they rarely see better when judgin abroad well now is the time to prove it.

Get them sorted and get them entered and lets see where the UK sits against the best of the rest.
